"Passion" is very important. This is what drives a programmer to write good, elegant programs. This is what drives a programmer to write a better algorithm than what is currently available. This is what drives a programmer to search for the best way to implement a piece of code. This is also what drives a programmer to be proud of his/her work.

"Passion" on the other hand is also what drives a programmer to realize that he/she is not perfect. This is what drives a programmer to learn since keep learning is the only way to be better overtime. Being passion means you want to create the next best ideas and at the same time has the ability to greatly appreciate the best ideas and elegant programs out there.

I think "passion" is what distinguishes a great programmer from an average programmer.

I would've thought that the internt was inherently uncontrollable, and i no longer think that. China shows that you can do it pretty effectively.
